Depending on the format of the main competition, golfers may be competing against the field, or against other people playing from the same tee box. For season points competitions, you are competing with others in your age division.
Golfers are divided into four Age Divisions. Your age division is determined on April 1 for the season. (You don't "age up" on your summer birthday.)
The ranges of ages in the four divisions are set to attempt to keep similar numbers of golfers in each division. The Board of Governors may change these age limits between seasons if an imbalance in numbers develops.
A Division -- about 25% of NHSGA membership | Ages 55 to 64 |
AA Division -- 24% | Ages 65 to 69 |
AAA Division -- 25% | Ages 70 to 74 |
SS (Super Senior) Division -- 24% | Ages 75 to 199 |
